Coast Guard, partners to conduct pollution response training in St. Ignace, Michigan

ST. IGNACE, Mich. — The Coast Guard and Northern Michigan Area Committee will hold an interagency training and exposition event at the Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace Tuesday and Wednesday.

The primary purpose of this event is to enhance preparedness and pollution response capabilities among regional partners.

Residents and visitors in the St. Ignace area should expect to see an increased presence of first responders and emergency personnel during the two-day activity. An equipment deployment drill is scheduled for Tuesday, followed by an exposition event Wednesday. Additionally, the public may observe pollution response equipment deployed along U.S. Route 2 and non-toxic dye visible in the Cut River.

This is a scheduled training exercise; there is no active emergency or threat to the public or environment unless otherwise specified.

Multiple federal, state, tribal and local NMAC partners are slated to participate in the training, which will focus on environmental protection and emergency response.
